Why White Cabinets With Black Granite Looks Better

Adding white cabinets is a great way to update your kitchen. While a glass top kitchen is gaining popularity, black granite worktops make the room look larger and even make the food easier to eat. You can choose from white, black, or other colors to suit your taste.

Choose your granite for the base of your white cabinets and then consider adding accents to your cabinets to bring color and texture. A sharp look to your black granite can be achieved by including patterned accents in the drawer fronts and the base of your white cabinets. Then add the colors of your choice for color. Many cabinets come with solid color paint but these are very expensive and do not blend well with your granite.

Laminate wood with the same look and texture as granite is available for both black and white. These are often used for laminates of black granite that are finished using sealers or lacquers. Laminate woods have a finish similar to the black granite and give a natural look that is both appealing and inviting.

When you buy your white cabinets, you won't look much different from the existing cabinets so you don't need to spend time repainting. However, you should consider adding accents to give your home a splash of color and to pull the room together.

White cabinets made of granite will compliment any decor. You will be amazed at how much they will improve the look of your kitchen.

White or black cabinetry with marble or oak can be stunning if it is finished with a rich, dark hue such as black or dark walnut. To get the look, buy cabinets with wood grains that contrast with the white or black look and then use a fine sanding to give the grains depth.

You may want to consider trying a less expensive material that will work as an accent, but that is still pleasing to the eye. You can find unfinished laminate and pine woods that come in any color and with any grain.

If you have a darker tone in your kitchen, you can use cherry wood, cherry or mahogany in your cabinets. Do not go with a cherry finish on granite. It will stain the wood and the granite will not be smooth.

Some kitchen cabinets are finished in dark cherry or mahogany but not in black. Black granite looks terrific in these dark cherry or mahogany cabinets. Make sure the darker finish is sealed.

If you want your cabinets to look like black granite, add some pearly clear lacquer to the base. This will give you a glossy black finish. Any stain will do the same but since black will require a sealer, a heavier stain is recommended for this look.

However, you don't have to keep the kitchen dark just because you choose black granite. You can add beautiful color by using bright pinks, yellows, or oranges. These will not only look good in the kitchen but in the living room, dining room, and other rooms in the house.

Remember that you don't have to go all out with dark cherry or mahogany. You can add just a hint of color to the room with more natural looking, natural colors such as brown, beige, or yellow. Since the granite is not colored, you can use natural tones as long as you use a sealer or stain to cover the finish.
