Olin Shaker Cabinets and Handles

If you are just starting to remodel your kitchen, you may want to consider shaker cabinets and handles. A shaker cabinet is a large cabinet that has sliding shelves or rod-like rods that open up and allow you to access the contents of the cabinet. It can also have drawers for holding pots and pans.

There are several different styles of cabinet that fit this description. The shaker style was introduced by Olin Shaker Manufacturing Company in the 1960s.

But shakers weren't the only cabinet style that came from the Olin company. In fact, they manufactured many other styles as well. Here is a brief rundown of some of those other styles.

Outdoor Wood Pieces. These were manufactured from wood that was treated with oils to make it weather resistant. This made them an excellent choice for cabinets in high traffic areas.

Painted Black. The Olin company produced many lines of cabinets that had their wood frames painted black. When pressed, they would shine with a wonderful sheen.

The Olin company also produced a line of painted wooden cabinets with their linings being made from recycled materials. It seems that the best material for a liner and paint combination is material that has been used before, since the old materials often discolor.

High Tech Look. This style of cabinet has metal rods that slide out to create a full-sized cabinet with handles. This style is often called a "shaker-style" cabinet.

These cabinets were available in four different colors: black, walnut, mahogany, and cherry. Their handles were also available in a variety of shapes, including oval, circular, and octagonal.

The metal hangers that the Olin company supplied with these cabinets are nickel, brass, or stainless steel. Sometimes, the cabinet's handle was also covered in the same material as the hanger cover.

The Olin line of metal cabinet usually came with a handle that was both circular and rectangular. The handles of these cabinets were typically plated in gold or brushed chrome.

The sizes that these cabinets came in varied depending on the manufacturer. However, the standard size was always about seven and one-half feet long and three feet wide.

Olin cabinets and handles were available in many finishes, including powder-coated and sandblasted. Olin did not seem to put a big emphasis on color options, but there were a number of different colors that you could choose from.
