How to Install a Wall Cabinet Height Above Countertop

The first and most important thing that you need to do when buying a new cabinet is to buy a cabinet height above the countertop. There are several different ways of measuring this, but the most convenient and reliable is to use the top of the cabinet as the reference point. The reason for this is that this will provide you with the most accurate results.

If you're lucky enough to have someone who's working in your home or business nearby, you should ask them to measure the height of the countertop from the floor and then attach it to the inside of the cabinet. This will give you a good idea of how tall your new cabinet needs to be. Most people like to start with something that's between the level of the countertop and the floor.

Once you've decided on the height of the cabinet, you can then calculate the size of the new storage unit based on the dimensions of the existing one. Keep in mind that you're going to have to cut some material away from the existing unit if you're cutting into it because the walls of the new cabinet may be open, meaning you'll have to run some of the new wall across the remaining interior of the existing cabinet.

Take the measurements of the wall and the height of the countertop to get an idea of how much you need to cut. It is possible to cut the existing unit in half and keep the cut sections in the hole in the wall.

Once you have these three pieces of the new unit set in place, you can begin installing the necessary materials. Many people choose to do everything themselves, but if you don't feel comfortable installing electrical equipment, you can hire a company to help you.

Make sure that the people working on the new wall will mark where they will cut out the areas you want to create as well as making sure the tools and materials are all accounted for before beginning. If you are doing the entire job yourself, then you will need to make sure that you know how to properly prepare the area where you are working.

While it may not be necessary to trim the corners where the wall meets the door, it is necessary to make sure that everything is even and that everything is at the right height. If you make any adjustments during installation, then you must undo the changes before you can move on to the next step.

Check to make sure that the material is not already in a position that will create an obstruction. It is best to make any final adjustments before you begin cutting, because this will eliminate any problems that could arise due to poor material placement. Ensure that all the walls are clear of any obstructions by marking the depth of each, making sure that there is at least one inch of clearance.

Once you have the corners and the depth marked, use the drywall mix to create a pattern and then insert the loose edges. Use pliers to secure the edges and put a bead of caulk around the perimeter of the space to protect the edges from being ripped off during installation.

With the walls prepared, you can now work on the middle of the wall. This is where the hidden doors will be and they will probably have to be set flush against the wall or off center so that they fit securely.

Cut the pattern, put the doors in place and then place the hinges onto the studs. Remember to test the hinges to make sure they work as they should, and make sure that you have the correct hinge type to avoid endangering yourself.

If you made any other additions to the wall, you will also need to take care of those now. Youwill need to line the edge of the shelves with the pattern and secure them in place, and you'll also need to remove any protruding nails or shims.
