Kitchen Drawers - Why Not Eliminate Their Handles?

Kitchen drawers don't have handles so why are you still using them? Some people use them because they feel it makes it easier to get in and out of the drawers.

While this is certainly true for some people, I'm sure there are others that don't care about it. They don't want a bunch of clutter lying around in their kitchen. They just want it to be neat.

Unfortunately, since these drawers are made from metal, and therefore can't have handles, they can't have handles either. That means you'll have to use a drill, and with a drill you might even be able to break the drawer if you really go at it hard enough. Sometimes you can get away with this, but sometimes you just can't. After all, some drawers were originally made with very strong steel to keep things like knives and candlesticks from being pulled out.

This may seem like a silly problem area, but when you see a "no handles" drawer you know what you're looking at. There's usually nothing in it. It's either due to having the handle taken off the drawer, or broken off the piece that holds the handle.

The best solution to this problem is to buy new kitchen drawers. This will allow you to use those that do have handles. You will however need to buy different drawer slides which means you might have to pay more for the total set up.

This doesn't matter much in the end, but it does mean that you'll be wasting some money if you try to use those without handles. It's also a pain to replace if you have a drawer that won't close any other way.

The first thing you'll have to decide on after you get a new drawer is how you want to mount it. You can have it mounted on the wall or on a stud. They both work just fine, but the stud option is the most popular.

You shouldn't have to spend extra money just to get one of these units, so don't need to bother if you have the old ones. Just get a new one, and enjoy the convenience of a new drawer without the hassle of messy handles. For one thing, they don't look like a mess, and for another thing, they make your kitchen look a lot neater.
