How to Close Your Kitchen Drawer

Kitchen drawers are not made to be opened and closed repeatedly, for it is a very awkward situation to be in when you do not know how to handle the drawer handle. When you are tired of the drawer not closing as easy as it used to, or the drawer sliding open on its own when you just want to close it, then you need to learn to close and open the drawers on your own. You will save yourself from the frustration of this job by learning the correct way.

The first thing that you need to do is find the drawer that you need to open, on either the left or right side of the cabinet. If the drawer is on the right, then you will need to start from the right, if the drawer is on the left, then you will need to start from the left.

Once you have found the drawer that you need to open, set it down with the handle facing up, which will make opening the drawer easier. Next, take out the handles of the drawers on the opposite sides of the cabinet. Each drawer should have two handles. The ones on the left side should be removed while the ones on the right side should be set on the floor.

Next, remove the drawer that you are working on. When the drawer is removed, it should slide down and then straighten out, a little like a smooth engine does after a new belt has been put in. Once the drawer is in the same position, you should be able to see where the chain goes into the hole that is in the back of the drawer.

The chain should have a "drop tail" to it, which is a piece of metal, threaded into the hole in the drawer. It will be inside the hole, and it is the part that connect the chain to the wood. This is one of the places where you can usually find the problem. You can tighten the chain's nuts, or you can clean the mess out with a damp cloth.

As the drawer is being cleaned, make sure to check to see whether or not the problem is inside the hole or outside of it. If it is inside the hole, then you will need to undo the nuts holding the chain in place.

Once you have removed the nuts and cleaned out the mess, you will need to reattach the chain to the drop tail, which will connect the pull chain to the bottom part of the drawer. You will then need to move the drawer back to the starting position. Once it is in the correct position, all that you need to do is adjust the chain's sprocket and pull it in order to close the drawer.

If the problem is outside the hole, then you need to adjust the chain's tension by tightening the screw holding the chain's sprocket in place. This should be done once the chain's sprocket is in the same position as the one that was removed. After doing this, you should be able to close the drawer.

If you can't close the drawer, then the problem is not inside the hole, but outside of it. You should be able to use a piece of string or a magnet to get at the problem, or you could try to use a rubber mallet to tap it until it closes.

Once you have tried both methods, then you should be able to close the drawers again. If not, then you should try adjusting the chain's tension. This may not work in every case, but it should be good enough for most cases.

Finally, when you have your drawer closed, you should make sure that the doors do not close onthemselves. This should prevent your drawer from closing on itself. If it happens, then you should turn on the light and open the drawer to see if it will close again.

Hopefully now you will be able to use the drawer better. and avoid the problem of having your drawer keep sliding open on its own.
