How to Raise Base Cabinet Height
Do you know how to raise base cabinet height? Do you know how to properly install a new base cabinet without causing any damage to the base itself? Before you start any project, it is important to know how to properly install a base cabinet before moving on.
Before you start anything else, you should always make sure that you have completed the actual base. You should have made sure that the bottom of the unit is level. If the bottom of the unit is not level then you will not be able to accurately place the shelf properly. You should also measure from the top of the cabinet to the wall so that you can cut the base straight and center it.
When it comes to raising the base cabinet up, you should always start with the bottom first. To do this you should measure from the floor to the base. Mark out where the base is going to be and then mark out two points approximately equal to the floor in order to make sure that you are getting an even mount.
You will then need to drill two holes. Drill the two holes that are marked out with a pencil and then use the center marks as a guide. To be safe, you should turn the base upside down before drilling any holes.
With the cabinet where it is, you will then need to insert the two studs into the studs on the inside of the base cabinet. If you are installing a top mount cabinet, then make sure that the studs that are going into the cabinet are going into the studs on the inside of the cabinet. If you are installing a bottom mount cabinet, then make sure that the studs that are going into the cabinet are going into the studs on the outside of the cabinet. These studs should all be equal on both sides.
You should then drill a hole at the point where the studs on the inside of the base cabinet are going to attach to the studs on the outside of the cabinet. You should drill a hole that is approximately the same size as the screw on the inside of the cabinet. Once you have drilled the hole that you will then want to carefully screw the cabinet in place with the screws that are available.
Once you have screwed the cabinet in place, you should then screw in the new shelf. If you are going to be putting a new shelf in then you should find a good size piece of wood that will fit in between the two shelves. You should make sure that the pieces of wood that you purchase match up and are of the same thickness.
You should then enter the new shelf on the base cabinet. You should center the shelf in the middle of the base cabinet and then put some felt between the shelves and the base so that they do not slide around. You should also make sure that the felt is a good fit.
After you have secured the felt between the two shelves on the base cabinet, you should then mark out where the shelf is going to go. You should then make sure that the shelf does not slide out of place. You should then take some wood glue it to the back of the shelf.
You should then glue the shelves in place on the base cabinet. Be sure that you only use the same amount of glue as you would use on the shelf. You should then screw the shelf in place until the whole thing is secure.
You should now have the base cabinet height up and be able to open and close the unit. You should also be able to lock and unlock the cabinet with a bit of effort. Keep in mind that the cabinet must be secured on both sides.
This is just a basic guide for how to raise base cabinet height. It may not be exact, but it should get you started.
