Depth Of Base Cabinets 10'x10' Kitchen $1350
Make Your Kitchen Looks Great by Upgrading to Depth of Base Cabinets
It's time to upgrade your kitchen, and the decision will likely be based on which depth of base cabinets you have. That is, will you be having a traditional two-drawer unit, or one drawer above and below the surface of the counters?
In my opinion, going with the traditional two drawer units makes sense for many homeowners. They are very traditional, and the feel and look gives a kitchen a certain feel. I know I enjoy my kitchen like that.
Then, there are those who prefer the one drawer cabinets, but they also know they don't have enough counter space. They have grown used to the small kitchen and spend a lot of time in their kitchen. Since these are typically newer homeowners, the whole remodeling idea is new to them.
One thing to remember is that, even though I love my two drawer units, the space on the top is usually more than the bottom. It makes it hard to reach items in the drawers, and I always find myself grabbing for things. So, if you don't have a large kitchen, you might want to go with the two-drawer design.
However, there are plenty of people who want the versatility of three drawer units, and with that wide range of drawer sizes, they can take advantage of the special features such as hidden pulls or slide out shelves. They also like to have little spaces where they can place condiments, cups, utensils, and other items for easily grabbing and using.
Then there are the people who like to have almost every item in sight, so they do most of their prep at the kitchen island. Therefore, they want to keep as much room in the drawers as possible.
If you aren't careful, you can ruin the appearance of the cabinets and in fact, they will look older than they really are. When looking to replace the existing cabinets, remember that, some of them are deeper than others, and some of them are taller.
Depth: It really doesn't matter what the depth of the cabinets are, but some prefer them to be deeper than others. Generally, I like to have them between two and four inches deeper than the kitchen surface.
Wall thickness: Wall thickness is another thing to consider. Make sure you pick a wall that is strong enough but not so thick that it would crack.
Finish: There are a variety of finishes that you can choose from. Some people prefer natural oak, cherry, or natural wood, while others like a stain that matches the colors of the walls.
Some people like to keep the cabinets closed, while others like the look of opening them up. Whatever you decide, make sure you have a good sealant for the unit to prevent water from leaking in.
Just remember that when shopping for any home improvement store, you should always do your homework before deciding on what product to purchase. You want to make sure it will work, and will hold up over time.
